i’m glad you’re here
Finding a therapist can be daunting and overwhelming. It’s hard to find someone in the sea of Psychology Today profiles, and it’s scary to be vulnerable with a stranger. I’m really glad you found my page, and I hope I can help.
Specialties
I work with individuals and couples on “general” concerns like anxiety, depression, and communication. I also specialize in sex therapy and help folks with pelvic pain, mismatched libidos, difficulty orgasming, erectile dysfunction, and premature ejaculation.
education and approach
I believe in a feminist and sex-positive approach to therapy. I work with clients of all genders, sexual orientations, and lifestyles. No matter what you’re experiencing, I will listen to your story with empathy and compassion.
I attended Grinnell College for undergrad. Grinnell is a tiny liberal arts school in Iowa, and I majored in Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies. My undergrad degree informed my philosophy that the personal is political. Sexism, racism, homophobia, and transphobia all affect mental health. There are many barriers to quality sex education and healthcare, and that impacts how we feel about ourselves.
I went to graduate school at the joint MSW program between UNCG and NC A&T. I graduated in 2019, and I’ve been working as a sex and couples therapist for the last five years. I use an eclectic treatment approach, and I often draw from attachment theory, Emotion Focused Therapy, Gottman therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
other fun facts
I’m an identical twin! She also lives in Durham, so heads up if you see us out and about in the wild. In my free time I like to craft, do comedy, and take naps.
